Mary Heilmeyer Baker City, 1915-2012 Mary Grace Corner Fales Heilmeyer, 96, of Baker City and longtime resident of Eastern Oregon, died Aug. 31, 2012, at St. Alphonsus Care Center. Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Sept. 14, at the First Lutheran Church, 1734 Third St. There will be a reception afterward in the fellowship hall at the church. Mary was born on Nov. 8, 1915, at Colfax, Wash., to George Corner and Adah Carter. She married Archie Fales on Nov. 20, 1932, at Sweet Home. They moved to Eastern Oregon in 1935. Together they ran a dairy farm until they moved to Baker City in 1947. Mary and Archie were divorced in 1952 and, in 1956, Mary moved to Pendleton where she worked in the woolen mill for six years. On May 15, 1959, Mary married Archie K. Heilmeyer. The couple moved to Dale in 1963, then to Eureka, Calif., where they lived from 1966 to 1972, and then on to St. Maries, Idaho, where Mary worked as a senior services coordinator for Benoweh County until they retired in 1977. After her retirement, Mary and Archie moved to Payette, Idaho, in 1981 and to Fruitland, Idaho, in 1989. They enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona and their summers at Fruitland, Idaho. Mary was an active member of the First Lutheran Church and she enjoyed fishing, traveling, crocheting, crafts and reading. Survivors include five children: son David Fales and his wife, Patty, daughter Judy Chinn and her husband, Charlie, daughter Arcella Hall and her husband, Ken, stepdaughter Joan Hunsaker and her husband, Doug, and stepson John “Butch” Heilmeyer and his wife, Vicki; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Archie Fales and Archie Heilmeyer; sisters, Dorothy Parker and Margaret Munts; brother, Gordon Corner; and daughter, Sharon Fales.
