Agnes Marie Gilbert Evarts, 86, died Aug. 22, 2012, at Baker City.
At her request, there will be no memorial service. She will be buried with her parents at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Agnes was born at Peculiar, Mo., on April 22, 1926, to Theodore Gilbert and Cora Simrell. She was a sister to Theodore “Jr.” Gilbert, Fred Gilbert, Boyd Gilbert and Jack Gilbert.
Agnes married William Dale Evarts of Roseburg on Jan. 10, 1942, at Weiser, Idaho. They had been married for 70 years; they raised four children: Jimmie, Larry, Carl “Corky” and Vicki.
Dale retired from the Teamsters at Anchorage, Alaska, where they had lived for 44 years. Dale and Agnes owned a ceramics shop, a fish store and a charter service in Alaska before returning to Oregon.
Agnes also spent time living in Missouri, Idaho and Colorado.
Survivors include her husband, William D. Evarts of Baker City; sons, Jimmie Evarts, and his wife, Terrie, of Baker City, and Larry Evarts, and his wife, Karen, of Murphy, N.C.; and daughter, Vicki S. Bocz, and her husband, Rick, of Grand Saline, Texas; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cora Simrell and Theodore Gilbert of Baker City, OR; brothers, Fred Gilbert of Union and Theodore “Jr.” Gilbert of Humansville, Mo.; and son, Carl “Corky” E. Evarts of Anchorage, Alaska.
Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
