Elsie Bennett Baker City, 1932-2012 Elsie May Bennett, 80, of Baker City, died Aug. 13, 2012, at her home. At her request, there will be no service. Elsie was born on May 8, 1932, at Dixon, Ill., to Elwin Murray Bunnell and Lydia Madeline Rose. She attended Dixon Grade School, Amboy Rural School, and Mendota Township Grade School and High School in Illinois. She continued her education in California at UCLA, where she studied for 3½ years. Elsie married Claude Jay Bennett on Sept. 6, 1989, at North Bend. Claude and Elsie moved to Baker City in 1996 after Claude’s retirement. Elsie is fondly remembered by many friends, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and cousins. She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband, Claude; and her brother, Erwin. Gray’s West & Co.
