Edward Binschus, 77, of Mt. Vernon, died Sept. 17, surrounded by family, at Blue Mountain Care Center in Prairie City. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in Keerins Hall, at the Grant County Fairgrounds in John Day, with a potluck to follow.
Mr. Binschus was born June 8, 1937, in Bellingham, Wash., to Louis and Ruby (McManama) Binschus.
On April 14, 1962, in Winnemucca, Nev., he married Virginia Hammons, with whom he had four children.
He worked for Hudspeth, Prairie Wood Products and the U.S. Forest Service. He retired in 2002.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family. He and his wife loved taking vacations to the coast where he crabbed, fished and watched sunsets with special friends.
He served as deacon of Victory Baptist Church in Canyon City.
Survivors include his son, Donald Binschus of Mt. Vernon; daughters, Angela Binschus of Emmett, Idaho, Brenda (Wade) Bissonnett of Fossil and Tammy Binschus of Nampa, Idaho; grandchildren, Kelly, David, Rachelle, Matthew Paul, Kayle (Allen) Maddox, Dillon, Samantha and Quincy; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.
Arrangements are under the care of Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR, 97845.
