HEDGPETH, Glenn Charles

Glenn Charles Hedgpeth, 81, of Baker City, passed away July 27, 2014. He was born on February 1, 1933 in Medford, Ore., and was the youngest of three children born to Floyd H. and Frances J. Hedgpeth. The family lived in Central Point where Glenn grew up and attended school, graduating in 1951. He worked at various jobs before attending college and also worked while going to school at Oregon State. He graduated from OSU in 1961 and started working for the Forest Service later that same year. After a few years working in Washington, Glenn was transferred to Butte Falls, Ore., where he met his wife, Priscilla. They were married in November of 1969 in Reno, Nev., and gave birth to their daughter, Jennifer, a year later. In May of 1977 Glenn took a job transfer to Baker City where he had lived ever since. His son, Matthew, was born in 1980. In addition to raising his own children, he helped raise his niece, Kathy. Glenn worked at the Forest Service until his retirement in 1991. Glenn loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and just spending time in the mountains. He was also an avid gardener and particularly enjoyed his fresh corn on the cob in the summertime. Glenn was a kind and generous person who valued family and friends. It's not every person who is fortunate enough to maintain friendships from the beginning of grade school, but Glenn had many who were an integral part of his life. He always looked forward to getting together with his life-long friends - especially the yearly hunting party. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister, and very recently his wife Priscilla. He is survived by his son Matthew of Baker City, daughter Jennifer of Hermiston, niece Kathy of Sheridan and many beloved family and friends. A private graveside service in Butte Falls, Ore., is being planned. Local services were under the direction of Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place St. Baker city, OR 97814. therconline.com 18 Sept 2014
