LIZOTTE, Lawrence Joseph


Lawrence Joseph Lizotte, 87, of Baker City died on August 6, 2014 while residing at the St. Alphonsus Care Center. A graveside service will be heldfor Lawrence on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Olney Cemetery, in Pendleton, Ore. Lawrence was born August 17, 1926 to Daniel Lizotte and Helen LaCoursiere Lizotte in Crookston, Minn. Lawrence moved around a great deal and was somewhat a loner until he met and married his first wife, Theresa. During their marriage, they had three boys, Robert, Daniel and Michael. This marriage ended in divorce and Lawrence lost contact with his boys for more that 25 years. In 1958 Lawrence met Mary Shaw and they married on November 27, 1958 in Pittsburg, Pa. Mary and Lawrence had two boys, Mark and Phillip Lizotte. He then began wanting to know about his other three sons and went looking for them. After over 25 years, Lawrence and the three boys from his first marriage reunited and kept in touch. Mary passed away in 1983. After Mary's passing, Lawrence met Laretta (Bosanko) Knopski while Living in Lincoln City, Ore. They married on October 31, 1989. Laretta brought two daughters to the relationship, Caroline and Karen. Laretta passed away in December, 1998. During his adult life, Lawrence did many different things to support his family; He drove limousine while living in Florida, drove taxi in Pendleton and managed an apartment complex in Pendleton. Lawrence was working in the kitchen at the Oregon State Mental Hospital until he had to go on disability in 1980. He enjoyed his family and had fun driving this grandson on his paper route. He also enjoyed traveling and went all over the Northwest, Israel and Washington D.C. Lawrence loved to fish and always made time to throw a line in the water. Lawrence accomplished many things in his life, but the one he was the proudest about was taking care of his family. Lawrence Joined the New Hope Church when he moved to Baker City. Survivors include his sons, Daniel and Michael, Mark Lizotte of Baker City, Phillip Lizotte of Marianna, Fl. and a sister Carol Owen from Yakima, Wash. He also has fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Helen Lizotte, a son, Robert Lizotte, a brother, Kenneth Lizotte, and by his wives Mary and Laretta Lizotte.
