CALDER, Douglas Duane


Douglas Duane Calder, age 66, of Baker City, Died August 12, 2014 at the family Home. A Memorial Service is to be held Saturday August 23, at 1 p.m. at the Gray's West & Company Pioneer Chapel. His good friend William (Bill) Bishop of the American legion will be officiating. Doug was born in Baker City September 20, 1947 to Clinton James & Marion LaVelle (Lewis) Calder. Doug Served in the Army and the National guard until being discharged in 1966. Much of Doug's life he was a backhoe operator and operated equipment of all kinds; he worked for Don DeRoest excavation as wells as many construction companies. He had also worked for the sheriff's office as a corrections officer at the Baker County Jail; a bus driver for the Tigard school district and maintenance man for Oregon City Schools along with being self-employed hauling lumber and firewood. Doug had many hobbies and loved to hunt, fish, ride ATV's and street bikes, build structures and things as well as having family get-togethers. His largest accomplishments was raising his family to know love, work hard at any and every job they did, and to show others what it meant to be a good friend. He was a member of the American legion Post #41 in Baker City and Post #43 in LaGrande. He is survived by his wife of over 48 years Barbara Ann ( Haney) Calder. The two were married in Weiser, Idaho and have been together, side by side, holding hands ever since. He is also survived by two sons Douglas Clinton Calder of Madras, Ore., Curtis John Calder of Baker City; a Sister Janice Ring of Gresham, Ore.; brother Craig Calder of Baker City and 5 Grandchildren, Dave, Clinton, Angelee, Christina, and Elizabeth. He is preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Marion Calder, a brother Curtis James Calder, and a sister Deanna Kae Worsham. The family requests Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Legion post #41 in Baker City or Post #43 in LaGrande.
