Ida Laura Thompson, 96, died on July 24, 2014 at Meadowbrook care facility in Baker City. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 ~ 11 a.m. at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway, Oregon. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception following at the Baptist Youth Center. Ida Laura was born on June 28, 1918 at Eve, Kentucky to Albert and Beatrice Wright. She was the second of three daughters. Ida Laura was named after both her grandmothers Ida McCubbins and Laura Wright. Ida worked for approximately a year in Louisville, KY during WWII at the airplane factory before moving to Carson, Oregon to marry Herman Bruce Thompson on February 10, 1944. Bruce and Ida made their home in Halfway, Oregon and lived there except for a short time when they moved to Kentucky. They then moved back to Halfway and she resided there until moving to Caldwell, ID to live with her daughter in 2000. She then moved to Meadowbrook Place in Baker City, Oregon September 2007. Ida's favorite things to do included traveling, fishing, gardening and visiting with friends. She was a longtime member of the VFW #7847 Auxiliary in Halfway. Ida is survived by her son Herman and wife Dorothy Thompson; daughter Barbara and Larry Bourrie; three granddaughters, Meagan, Shelbi, and Ida Jane Thompson ;one grandson, Joshua Thompson-Bourrie; two step granddaughters Dara and Christy.
