DAVIS, Joseph Garner

Joseph Garner Davis began his next great adventure on July 2, 2014, surrounded by his army. A private family service was held. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held July 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Durkee Community Hall in Durkee, Ore. Joseph G. "Joe" Davis was born June 1, 1997 in Baker City, Ore. He spent the beginning of his short life in Hereford, Ore., and the remaining part in Durkee. Joe attended school in Burnt River and then he went to schools in Baker City. Joe enjoyed school and made many friends. Family gatherings were one of Joe's favorite activities, along with camping and being outdoors. His memory and fascination with the make and model of vehicles was uncanny. He enjoyed swimming, playing Xbox, and watching superhero movies. His beautiful, brown, expressive eyes, warm smile and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by his family and friends. Thanks to generous donations from the Durkee community, Joe attended Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) camp for ten years. His wonderful "camp" experience was due to his counselor Alberto "Gonzo" Gonzalez. Gonzo was with Joe at camp each of those ten years. "Yette hunting" was a yearly highlight. Joe is survived by his mother, Heather Vaughan. His aunts and uncles: Kathleen and Mark Eckerich, Laurie and Mike Carnahan, Charlie Vaughan, Margie and Bill Walter, Tom Vaughan, Reagan Vaughan and Steve Stevenson, Joan Vaughan and Zoe Leach, James Vaughan and numerous cousins. His father, Dan Davis, brother Jim and Kim Davis, sister, Joey and Ron Perry, nieces and nephews, the Heriza family and the Dunn Family. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers those wanting to remember Joe to make a donation to his favorite organizations; MDA and Durkee Historic Preservation District. Donations should be made through Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place St. Baker City, Ore., 97814. therconline.com 10 July 2014
