VANCOUVER, Wash. – Ruth Giles Kessinger McCullough, 103, died Sept. 10, in Vancouver, Wash. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Driskill Memorial Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Canyon City Cemetery. Mrs. McCullough was born April 19, 1909, in Attalla, Ala., to Charles Edson Giles and Nancy Caledonia Crawley Giles. She grew up in Alabama and Tennessee, where she met her first husband, Walter Ira Kessinger. They moved to Idaho and then Oregon, where she spent the rest of her life. In 1955, she moved to Mt. Vernon. She was a retired registered nurse, and lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Following her husband’s death, she married Thomas Enos McCullough. Survivors include her three children, Dorothy K. Anderson, OD, of New Orleans, Duane W. Kessinger, of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Judy K. Compton of Vancouver; grandchildren, Karen (Tyler) Kessinger-Rhead, Christopher Compton, Steven (Mellisu) Kessinger, Boni Bennett and Shaunna Chapman; stepgrandchildren, Deborah (Kevin) Berger and Daniel (Jan) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Courtland, Jacob, Andrew, Jayden, Rhiannon, Connor, Riley and Keryn; stepgreat-grandchildren, D.J., Ashton, Courtney and Zachary; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her 10 siblings; her first husband, Walter; and her second husband, Thomas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of her great-grandson, whose birthdate is June 24, 2001, to the Jayden Bennett Cancer Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, 210 E.
