ROBBINS, Ronald E.


Ronald E. Robbins, 70, of Baker City died May 29, 2014. A private all day celebration of life will be held on June 8, 2014 at the family's residence. Ronald was born June 8, 1943 in Modesto, California to Jack Nathaniel Robbins and Martha Wolfe Robbins. Ron attended high school in Tuolumne, California and graduated in 1961. While in high school, Ron played saxophone and played first chair with Arthur Fedler while in Squaw Valley during his senior year. After he left school, Ron came to Baker City and went to work for LeRoy Kirk and Ted Dochweiler driving logging trucks. Ron worked for them for 52 years, retiring in 1998. In 1967 Ron married Shirley Lou Kristensen in Reno, NV. The couple were married for 47 years and had two sons. When they married, Shirley had six children and Ron welcomed them into his family with love and took care of them like his own, making sure each child knew they were special to him. Ron loved hunting, fishing, smoking salmon, gardening and raising chickens. He was also known as someone who loved his family and friends and would do anything to help anyone when they needed his help. Ron was a member of the NRA, the R.M.E.F. and the North American Fishing Club where he was a lifetime member. Ron is survived by his wife, Shirley Robbins, their sons, Mike Robbins of Baker City and James Robbins of Portland, Oregon. His step-children Penny Damcourt and her husband Ed of Sonora, California, Kris and his wife Laurie Painter of Amity, Oregon, Dean and his wife Khristina Painter of McMinnville, Oregon, Sue Bland of Sonora, California, Barbara Paxton and her husband Terry of Cottage Grove, Oregon. Step daughter Julie Braken and her husband Fred of Baker City a brother, Rodger Robbins of Sonora, California and a sister Marjori Hannon in Issaquah, Washington. Ron also has a grand daughter living in Baker City, Christi Yeaton and her husband Luke and 18 grandchildren living in various locations along with 11 great grandchildren living in various locations. Ron is preceded in death by parents and two brothers, Robert and Raymond Robbins.
