KRINGLEN, Eleanor Lorraine

Eleanor Lorraine Kringlen, 91, formerly of Baker City died peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2014 at her home in Clarkston, Wash. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Gray's West & Company Pioneer Chapel with Pastor Mel Harris of the Baker City First Lutheran Church officiating. Refreshments will be served at the Lutheran Church following the service. Mom, (Grandma) was born on August 12, 1922 to Clarence Grove and Inga Kleepe Grove at Reynolds, ND. She grew up on the family farm with her older brother, Glen and recalled many happy moments clearly, even at 91. On April 6, 1945 Eleanor (Grove) married John Kringlen of Hatton, ND, while he was on leave in Oxnard, Calif. After John's discharge from the Navy, Eleanor and John moved to Whapeton where John graduated from the Whapeton School of Science. Then the couple moved to Grand Forks, ND., where John worked for the U S Air Force and started Kringlen Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. After the family moved to Baker in 1962, Eleanor continued as bookkeeper for their business, in addition to raising her five children. She was a tireless worker and always put her family first. Eleanor was also active with Sunday School and Dorcas (sewing countless quilts for Lutheran World Relief) at First Lutheran Church where she served until she moved to Clarkston. Survivors include three daughters, Jeannie and husband David Carlson of Tigard, Ore., Cheryl and husband Ross Dowdy of Clarkston, Wash., and Vicki and her husband Robert Busse of Caldwell, Idaho, two sons, Michael Kringlen of Sherwood, Ore., and Ron and his wife Jeannie Kringlen of La Grande, Ore., 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Ruth Kvernen, brother-in-law Robert and his wife Delores Kringlen, brother-in-law Irving Eng and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, John Kringlin, her parents Clarence and Inga (Kleepe) Grove and one brother, Glen and wife Myrtle Grove.
