Pauline Holland Union, 1927-2014 Pauline Mrytle Bell Holland, “Nannie,” 87, of Union, died peacefully on Feb. 1, 2014, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends as well as her priest, Father Christopher. Visitations will be Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 340 S.W. 10th St. at Union. Recitation of the Rosary will be Feb. 8 at 10 a.m., followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m. also at the church. A reception will follow at the church’s parish hall. A brief graveside service will be Sunday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Canyon City Cemetery in Canyon City. If you are able to attend the services, the family encourages you to wear green and yellow, the colors of the Green Bay Packers, in honor of Pauline’s love for her favorite football team. Pauline was born on Jan. 30, 1927, at Iron Mountain, Mich., to Irvin and Celia Bell. Pauline traveled to Prairie City in 1949 to secure employment as a registered nurse at a local hospital. It was there she met and married a young rancher named Robert “Bob” Holland. They settled on the family ranch in Mt. Vernon where they raised their four daughters. Pauline and Bob were married for 51 years. Pauline will be remembered for her love of family, her faith in God and for being the No. 1 Green Bay Packers fan. It can be said there was never a stranger in her home. Pauline is survived by her daughters, Cathy Holland (Bob), Barbara Oien (Terry), Patty Wilson, and Beth Upshaw (Roger); her sister, Judy Loudermilk; two nieces; three nephews; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, with five more great-grandchildren on the way. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Holland; her granddaughter, Shelly Upshaw; and her sister, Gerry Lindstrom. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Union Food Bank or the Grant County Food Bank through Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.
