Dorothy Leomia Morgan, 76, of Baker City died Feb. 4, 2014, at a local care center.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place St. There will be no graveside services due to inclement weather.
Leomia was born on July 30, 1937, at Ontario to Leslie Peter Jensen and LaVina Dorothy Jensen. She attended Ontario schools and was an Ontario High School graduate.
In January 1957, she met Grant Morgan. They were married in May of that year.
They started their lives together at the ranch of Grant’s mother, Annie. They continued living at Unity for several years while Grant worked on the ranches in the area.
Annie helped Leomia get to know the ladies in the community by convincing her to join one of the clubs in Unity called the “Zip and Zoom” club. She held the offices of president, treasurer and secretary.
Leomia also worked for Lloyd Evans at the sawmill cleaning the bunkhouses. And she managed an apartment complex for several years in La Grande after Grant’s death.
Leomia and Grant moved to Baker City after Grant had a heart attack. Baker soon became home to them.
After Grant’s death, Leomia performed community service by visiting the elderly and shut-ins. She enjoyed visiting with them and sharing stories. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and attended many of their functions.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Mary Morgan Sigler and Mary Scott Morgan; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and great- great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant; her mom and dad and sister and brother, and three brothers-in-law.
