BEND – Fern Elizabeth Rynearson Horn, 85, of Prineville, died Jan. 16 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. Services were held Jan. 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Prineville, with interment at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Bishop Bobby Cox officiated.
Mrs. Horn was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Emmett, Idaho, to William and Rebecca Rynearson. She was the 10th child in the family, and the last surviving one. She graduated from Emmett High School in 1945.
On June 8, 1946, she married Sidney Clayton Horn in Emmett. They lived there for a few years, then moved to Prairie City, where they lived for nearly 30 years.
She loved to cook, sew, do ceramics and garden, and she decorated her home for every holiday. Her maple bars were sought after at gatherings.
She spent many hours working with the relief society at church, and anywhere else she was needed.
After Sidney’s retirement, they moved to Prineville to be near their son and other relatives.
Her husband of 66 years, Sidney, died shortly after her death.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Sidney; son, Larry (Della) Horn of Madras; daughters, Judy (Tom) Trent of Sparks, Nev., and Connie (Bill) Hall of Los Lunas, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Norma Rynearson of Prairie City, Bessie Rynearson of Enterprise and Auli Horn of Idaho; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by five sisters; five brothers; and two daughters, Marsha Knudsen and Cheryle Horn.
