bluemountaineagle.com 28 August 2012 BEND – Thomas F. “Tom” Huntington, 63, former John Day resident, died Aug. 19 in Bend. A memorial service was held Aug. 26, at Calvary Chapel in Bend, and a private graveside service Aug. 27, at Deschutes Memorial Gardens in Bend. Mr. Huntington was born May 20, 1949, in La Grande, to Thomas C. and Irene Lloyd Huntington. He grew up and attended schools in John Day, graduating from Grant Union High School in 1967. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He attended Central Oregon Community College in Bend, and graduated from Oregon State University in Corvallis with a degree in business/forest products. His work experiences included building fences, firefighting, carpentry, roofing, mill work sales and school custodian. He enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and playing cards, and loved serving the Lord. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth; sons, Joshua Huntington and Shane Petersen; daughters, Sarah (Huntington) Johnson, Gracie Huntington and Jessica Petersen; brother, Jim Huntington; sisters, Margaret (Huntington) Williams and Mary (Huntington) Jiles; nine grandchildren; and18 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Bend, Teen Challenge of Bend, or Wycliffe Bible Translators.
