bluemountaineagle.com 22 Jan 2013 Dana Fayette Hatcher-DeRosier, 46, of John Day, died Dec. 31 in Granite. A celebration of life will be held in late spring or early summer. Mrs. Hatcher-DeRosier was born Sept. 3, 1966, in Medford, to Jackson and Lola DeRosier. She was the youngest of her siblings, Sherri Dillman of Sisters, William DeRosier of John Day, Jackson Pierre DeRosier of John Day and Debbie Prophet of Mt. Vernon. She lived half her life in Prospect, with several cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. She attended Prospect Elementary and began high school there. In 1981, her family moved to Eastern Oregon to log for Prairie Wood Products. After living in Mt. Vernon for a short time, they moved to John Day. She graduated from Grant Union High School in 1984. Her interests included hunting and camping with her family, as well as fishing, snowmobiling and hiking. She enjoyed listening to her brother’s band, and was his biggest fan. She worked at Blue Mountain Nursing Home as a certified nursing assistant, and at Valley View Assisted Living. During summers, she worked in catering for fire camps. She grew up with her logging father, and for years was his go-getter – marking logs, writing tickets and anything that needed done. She loved laughing and helping anyone who needed it. She had a big heart and a bigger laugh. She enjoyed having friends’ and family’s birthdays announced on the radio, and never missed one. Survivors include her children, Jacob Michael of John Day, Sarah Fayette of John Day, Kiowa Scott and Kevin Scott, both of Redmond; four grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two aunts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for the Dana F. Hatcher-DeRosier family may be made to Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S.
