A celebration of Maudy’s life will be held in Halfway, Oregon on Saturday, Sept. 8, 1 p.m. at the VFW in Halfway, Ore. Maudy was born on Oct. 19, 1926, in Payette, Idaho. She graduated high school at Park Rose in Portland. She met her loving husband in Portland, Ore., and soon married. They lived in Portland several years, later moving to Bend, Ore. In 1978 Maudy and Claude moved to Halfway, Ore., to retire. After Claude’s death in 2011 she moved to Settler’s Park in Baker City. She loved it there and spent many hours visiting with her new friends and playing all the bingo, bango, ceramics and poker games that time would allow. Family was the most important thing to her. She loved to bake, eat maple bars and vanilla milkshakes. Card playing with family was one of her favorite past times. She loved flowers, painting and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Right up to the end she loved to shop and would wear out who ever took her. Her fun ways and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate Claude Sexton, her sister, Billie Powers, her brother Raymond Whiteley and her baby daughter Suzie Sexton. She is survived by her son, Donald Sexton of Baker City, Ore.; her daughters, Claudia and husband Bob Strom of Halfway, Terrie and husband Don Stumpff of Bend, Ore.; grandchildren, Ronni Herrold, Mark Sexton, Sally Baer, Sara Strom and Dylan Strom; great grandchildren, Karley West, Megan West, Corbyn Herrold, Alyce Herrold and Kamrin Sexton; and several nieces and nephews.
