The Record-Courier 21 Sep 2012 Agnes Marie (Gilbert) Evarts, 86, passed away Aug. 22, 2012, in Baker City, Ore. Agnes was born in Peculiar, Missouri on April 22, 1926 to Theodore Gilbert and Cora Simrell. She was a sister to Theodore Jr. Gilbert, Fred Gilbert, Boyd Gilbert, and Jack Gilbert. Agnes married William Dale Evarts of Roseburg, Oreg., in Weiser, Idaho on Jan. 10, 1942. They had been married for 70 years, they raised 4 children Jimmie, Larry, Carl (Corky) and Vicki. Dale retired from the Teamsters in Anchorage, Alaska where they had lived for 44 years. Dale and Agnes owned a ceramic shop, fish store and charter service in Alaska before returning to Oregon. Agnes also spent time living in Missouri, Idaho and Colorado. Agnes is survived by her husband William D. Evarts of Baker City, Ore.; son, Jimmie Evarts and wife Terrie of Baker City, Ore.; son, Larry Evarts and wife Karen of Murphy, North Carolina; and daughter, Vicki S. Bocz and husband Rick of Grand Saline, Texas, as well as nine grandchildren. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Cora Simreel and Theodore Gilbert of Baker City, Ore.; brothers, Fred Gilbert of Union, Ore., and Theodore Jr. Gilbert of Humansville, Missouri; son, Carl (Corky) E. Evarts of Anchorage, Alaska. At her request, no memorial service will be held. She will be buried with her parents at Mount Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Ore. Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel 1500 Dewey Avenue, Baker City, Ore., is handling arrangements.
