bluemountaineagle.com 21 August 2012 HERMISTON – Alice G. Hansen, 91, formerly of Long Creek, died July 19 in Hermiston. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, 700 W. Orchard Ave., Hermiston. A private burial was held in Long Creek. Mrs. Hansen was born July 27, 1920, in Fresno, Calif., to Ivar and Alice Carstens Iverson. She grew up in Lake County, and graduated from Western Oregon University and Eastern Oregon University. On Sept. 2, 1947, she married Harlan L. Hansen in Bend. She worked as a teacher, first in Brothers, then Heppner, Long Creek in 1947, and Hines. In the early 1970s she moved to Hermiston, where she was a member of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship and the Eastern Star. She was a great letter writer, and enjoyed sewing. Survivors include her son, Eric (Cindy) Hansen of Hermiston; daughter, Marit (Wes) Kalmbach of La Grande; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Iverson of Silverlake and Esther Hansen of Gresham; grandchildren, Daniel and wife Bethany, Lisa and husband Jason, and Mark: great-grandchildren, Tyler, Naomi, Rebekah and Nathaniel; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan in 1990; four brothers; and five sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the Estarl Committee of the Eastern Star.
