Ruth Myra Dibbles, 85 of Baker City died Nov. 15, 2012, at St. Alphonsus Medical Center Baker City, with family surrounding her.
Her graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the Eagle Valley Cemetery in Richland, Ore. Ruth’s visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place Street, Baker City, Ore.
Ruth was born July 15, 1927 in North Powder, Oregon to Dwight and Dorothea (Barkhurst) Riggs. Ruth had been a life-long member of the Baker City Christian Church. She attended school in Baker and graduated from Baker High School in 1945. She married Charles “Chuck” Dibbles on Sept. 12, 1949 on her parent’s 25th wedding anniversary and they lived in Spokane, Wash., for over 25 years. Upon retirement, she and Chuck moved to Richland, Ore., to enjoy their time fishing, snowmobiling and getting used to small town life. Chuck died in 1993 and Ruth continued to live in Richland until 2009 at which time, due to her health, she was forced to move to Baker City to be closer to family and her physician, Dr. Jon Schott.
Survivors include her brother, Dwight Riggs of Baker City, her sister and her husband, Jewel and Bill Pilcher of Baker City, nieces and nephews, Doug Riggs of Baker City, Karen Conklin of Clarkston, Wash., Larry Phillips of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Judi Brooks of Dayton, Wash.
Nieces-in-law, Judy Anntsen of Oating, Wash., and Mary Benton of Kenmore, Wash., and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two friends of the “White Headed Ladies” Bonnie Yeakley and V. J. Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and sisters-in-law.
Memorial contributions in Ruth’s memory may be directed to the Christian Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of one’s choice. This may be done through Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place Street, Baker City, OR 97814
