Donovan (Don) Ellsworth Martin was born on April 23, 1920, to Dean and Pansy Martin in La Habra, Calif. He was raised and educated in Fallbrook, Calif.
After graduation he worked at Camp Pendleton and was drafted into the U.S Army shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He spent three years in Germany during World War II. After the war he met and married his wife, Dorothy, on Aug. 20, 1948.
Shortly after getting married, Don and Dorothy moved to Cottage Grove, Ore., where they raised their four children. Don worked for the South Lane School district for 35 years. When he retired, in 1982, Don and two of his sons bought and operated the Triple M Ranch in the Keating Valley.
Don enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and working on the ranch in Keating Valley.
Don was a member of the London Grange in Cottage Grove Oregon, for well over 50 years where he served as Master many times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and brother in laws, two nieces and a nephew, several aunts and uncles.
Don is survived by his wife Dorothy, sons and spouses Dana and Linda Martin, Thomas(Tom) and Michaeline Martin, and Keith(Tony) Martin and Wife Mari Bottoms and Daughter Teresa(Teri) and husband Jim Bobo III. Grandchildren-Dean and wife Linda, Daphne, Crystal Lynn, Dean, Amie and husband Robert, Brenda and husband Tim, Crystal and husband Shane, Kate, Brad, Lisa and James. Don also had eleven Great Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren; Brother Dode and wife Muggins Martin and many Nieces and Nephews.
Don passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Dec. 14, 2012. A private family celebration of Don’s life will be held at the family ranch next Spring.
