BAKER CITY – Robert “Steve” Skidgel, 80, died Dec. 6 in Baker City. At his request, no services will be held. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
Mr. Skidgel was born June 13, 1932, in Glencoe, Okla. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years.
He worked as a self-employed logger in central Oregon before moving to the John Day area, where he spent many years working as a rancher and in real estate development. He and his wife, Bonnie, moved to the Granite area, where he worked in the mining industry. She lost her battle with cancer in 2001.
In 2002, he married his wife, Edna, in Canyon City.
Survivors include his wife, Edna M. Skidgel, of Baker City; daughter, Kelly (Jeff) Elliott of Klamath Falls; and eight grandchildren.
