bluemountaineagle.com 4 Dec 2012 Frank Schatz, 69, died at his home Nov. 23. A graveside service was held Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Burns Cemetery. Mr. Schatz was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Glidden, Wisc., to Henry Schatz and Francis Hall Schatz. In the 1940s, the family moved to Seneca, as did many families, to work for the Edward Hines Lumber Company. He attended Seneca School and Grant Union High School. In 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and spent two years in Germany. Upon his return home, he started working at Edward Hines. He married Dorothy Kaneaster. They made their home in Seneca before moving to rural Burns, where he continued to work for Hines, Harney County Gypsum, and LT&L. In 1985, he moved to Burns, where he started his own business which he ran for many years. He and his beloved dog Charlie were often found at home, at the casino, or at the truck stop having coffee with others. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and riding four-wheelers with friends. He was a hard worker and a good provider. Survivors include his son, Rich (Doris) Schatz of Seneca; daughter, Honey Schatz; brother, Keith (Margaret) Schatz; sister, Rhea (Don) Rider; granddaughters, Karmen and Richelle Schatz, Charla Lowry and Ashley Bailey; grandson, JJ Bailey; six great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Francis; brother, Dale; sisters, Diane and Dorna; and granddaughter, Savannah Bailey.
