bluemountaineagle.com 4 Dec 2012 Kathryn Joyce Miller, 79, of John Day, died Nov. 30, at her residence. There will be no services at this time, but a celebration of life is planned for spring 2013. Mrs. Miller was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Bates, to Charles M. and Mary A. (Kole) Swearingen. She married James C. Miller and was a lifelong resident of Prairie City. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially huckleberry picking, gardening, hunting and fishing. Survivors include sons, Neil (Nita) Miller of Canyon City, Chris Miller and significant other, Robin Gannon of Prineville, and Marty (Hollie) Miller of John Day; daughter, Cathy (Patrick) Workman of Wasilla, Alaska; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; sister, Vivia Salter; and a brother, Wayne Swearingen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association, through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day.
