bluemountaineagle.com Nov 20, 2012 Violet Heiple, 92, died Nov. 10 at her John Day home. A graveside service was held Nov. 20 at Prairie City Cemetery. Mrs. Heiple was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Portland, to William and Laura Tucker. She grew up with four brothers and two sisters in the community of Spring Water near Estacada. In her early years she rode a Shetland pony in all kinds of weather to a one-room schoolhouse. During summers she helped cook for thresher crews, picked berries and worked in the family prune dryer business. House ad: Northwest Opinions website - in article ad - ros In 1940, she married Robert Heiple. They lived in Currinsville where they raised two sons, Daniel and Edward. She had many family values, and showed concern by welcoming several family relatives who endured difficulties into her home. She was a wonderful cook who loved cooking for all occasions. She also liked gardening and canning fruit until she was 90. In 1975, she moved with her husband Robert to John Day. Once settled, she joined a bowling league and made many friends. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and sewing. Survivors include son Edward (Barbara) Heiple; grandson Travis; granddaughter Jamie (Heiple) Frazier; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Marion, Ike, Sol and Bill; sisters Pearl and Dice; husband Robert; son Daniel; and grandson Jason.
