bluemountaineagle.com Nov 6, 2012 PENDLETON – Marguerite A. Jordan, 92, died Nov. 3, in Pendleton. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Ukiah School gym, with graveside services following at 2 p.m. at the Long Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Jordan was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Pineville, Mo., to Curtis and Rose Ellen Van Winkle. She went to school in Pineville and Joplin, Mo. At 18, she joined her parents who had moved to Union. She met and married John Tarzan Jordan. They followed the logging business, living in Mitchell, Spray, Elgin and Weston. In 1957, they bought the Battle Mountain Cafe near Ukiah, where she was known for her pies, and in 1962, they moved to Ukiah where they managed the Ritter Hot Springs. Later they moved to the Middle Fork, and managed the Mountain Inn in Long Creek. After their divorce, she helped open Wally Muzzy’s lunch counter in John Day, where she continued serving her famous pies. She married Orville Shaw, worked at the Long Creek Post Office, and raised cattle and paint horses. He died in 1992. She married Irving “Bud” Jordan in 1993. They belonged to the Main Street Cowboys and the Sidesaddlers. After he died she lived in Pendleton and Ukiah with her daughter, Linda Kerr. Survivors include her children, Nona Jordan, Donna (Ed) Neumann, Linda Kerr, John T. (Mary) Jordan, Donald (Lauren) Jordan, and Mike (Sherri) Jordan; stepsons, Bill Jordan and Robert Shaw; nephew, Shane Van Winkle; sister, Lena Grizel of Portland; brother, Donald Van Winkle of Rapid City, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, many of whom she raised; 37 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, stepdaughter, Jeannie (Jordan) (Roseneau) Shornhorst Salisbury; and two husbands. Arrangements are under the care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, 336 S.W. Dorion Ave., Pendleton, OR 97801
