Dr. Myers was born March 29, 1920, in Omaha, Neb., the son of a minister father and a school teacher mother, both of whom served in four Midwestern states. HOUSE: OnlyAg.com in-article HOUSE: Discover Our Coast cube He met his wife Elaine in 1931, when her mother, chairperson of the New Preacher Selection Committee, helped choose his father for a preaching position. Together they had five children, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Both attended the University of Nebraska and earned degrees from the University of Oregon. Together they served as teachers or administrators in seven Oregon school districts, including Long Creek from 1950-52, where he was the school principal and she was a teacher. He worked for the Oregon State Department of Education for 10 years, and served as a consultant for another 10 years. His service during World War II, and travel as a consultant, took him to Europe, the South Pacific Islands and all over the United States. He enjoyed hiking, camping and fishing with family and friends. He was always openly grateful to them for their love and support. Survivors include his daughters, A. Maureen Kirkendall of Deming, N.M. and Sue Ellen Bedsaul of Salem; sons, Larry Myers of Lincoln City, Scott Myers of Canyon City and Robert Myers of Salem. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, on July 12, 2010.
