Former Resident Dead
James Frank Kirby died at his home at Avilia, Mo., on Sunday, Dec. 9th, 1917, age 80 years. Mr. Kirby was a resident of this community for eight years, leaving here about 17 years ago, and has a host of friends among our older citizens.
Although totally blind for more than 20 years, the deceased was strong and hearty and on the day preceding his death had shoveled the snow off the walks around his home; he caught a severe cold and died before morning.
Three sisters and two brothers survive, one of the latter being our fellow townsman, W. W. Kirby.
"Uncle Frank" as he was called by all who enjoyed his acquaintance, was a most lovable man and a devoted Christian, and in spite of his affliction was always well posted on the world's doings and was a conciencious bible student.
