Eagle Valley News; Richland, OR; 23 Jan 1919 A YOUNG WIFE PASSES Besmer May, wife of Francis J. Gibbon, died at her home near Richland at 5:45 p.m., Saturday January 18, of pneumonia following Spanish influenza, and was buried in the Eagle Valley cemetery on Tuesday. Aged 25 years, 3 months and 17 days. Besmer May Hearn was born near Chadron, Nebr., on Oct. 1, 1893. When about ten years of age she came with her mother to Mountain Home, Idaho, where they resided for a time; later going to Corral, Idaho, where her mother located on a homestead. In October, 1913, they removed to Halfway where she attended P.V.H.S. and also joined the Christian church of that place, returning to Corral the following June. She also took two more years in high school work at Soldier, Idaho, where thru the labors of Elder B. M. Gandy she united with the Seventh Day Adventist church of which she had since been a faithful member and worker. In November, '97, with her mother and sister she returned to Halfway, residing there until June 23, 1918, when she was united in marriage with Francis J. Gibbon and since resided in Eagle Valley. She was a faithful wife and dutiful daughter, and being of a lovable and exemplary disposition she soon won and held the love and respect of all who knew her, and her death will leave a vacancy which will be keenly felt by her many friends as well as in her home. Besides the husband, tehre are left to mourn her demise, the mother, Mrs. Maria Hearn of Halfway; two brothers, James A. Hearn of Corral, Ida., and Marvin Hearn of Halfway; two sisters, Mrs. George Briton of Fairfield, Ida., and Miss Eva Hearn of Halfway; a nummber of more distant relatives and a host of friends.
